EXPRESSING YOURSELF

 “Early on, my style was very much dictated by whatever my parents bought me. They picked out these silky rayon shirts, but I would get them a size or two bigger so they felt more like dresses. Luckily, this was an era of gender fluidity. Kris Kross wore their clothes backward and TLC had oversized tops. Even though it was boys’ clothing, it was the first time I had a say in my clothing.”
