The Way It Was

As we feature and celebrate the latest and greatest of wetsuit technology for 2019 (starting pg62). In this modern day and age with huge technologic advancements which allow for longer and more comfortable time in the water, we don’t really appreciate how lucky we have it. But for those that kick-started this surf craze here in NZ who are still at it today, their appreciation of how far we have come is worthy of sharing. TaffKennings was one of the first generation forefathers of surfing here in NZ, he grew up on the North Shore of Auckland, and was one of the pioneering surfers of Raglan and Whangamata, where he now resides. And was one of NZ’s first international representatives On any given swell whether it’s West Coast or East you will still find Taffin the water. He shares with us his recollection of the way it was.
