Welcome to Issue 80 of Airsoft Action - the Player's Choice airsoft magazine.
It has been a very busy summer and Airsoft Action contributors have been working hard to bring you the widest selection of reports, reviews, news, views and features from both home and abroad.
Summer is "Event Season" and we have reports from the UK's biggest, the National Airsoft Festival, where 2,500 players battled for honours, as well as the superb "Sniper Challenge" in France and Darkwater Airsoft in Kent, where much-needed funds were raised for the Spartan Warriors charity. We also report from a massive paintball event where airsoft is making a big impact, as well as an "Airsoft Social", where the after action activities are an equally important part of the event.
We have five different weapons to read about: Tokyo Marui's SGR 12, Umarex's gas blow-back MP40, King Arms Iron Shrike, CYMA's Tactical AK and the real steel P90.
If kit is your bag then don't miss our article about USA-based Propper, a company that has been around a long time and is starting to make big inroads into the airsoft scene. We also get our feet into the new Skelton boots from Dr. Martens, that offer performance at an affordable price.

It’s been a GREAT month at AAHQ, and motivation is high as we come out of the annual, international PLAYERS CHOICE AWARDS having regained the title for BEST MAGAZINE PRINT OR DIGITAL in 2024, and we’d firstly like to thank everyone that voted for us!
As you may understand we’re therefore very excited to bring you our first issue post-award, and what a mix of airsoft loveliness we have for you this month! We kick off as Stewbacca looks at our cover model this time, the new T91 GBBR from VFC, and what a banger this looks to be! 
Talking of bangs, Bill follows up as he gets hands on the APS “STREET SWEEPER” from APS, before coming back to check out the newest “L119A2” 
replica, this time from DOUBLE BELL.
We kick into our GEAR section as AA veteran Andy N puts the case for Holo Sights in airsoft, followed by the AA Crew looking at another “old campaigner”, the US Desert Combat Uniform (DCU). Bill and Jase continue the “optics theme” with a report following their meeting with the Sightmark guys at IWA.
And we also continue our show coverage as Boycie and L’il Stu report in on TWO UK events, the British Shooting Show and the launch of Novritsch products at Patrolbase! We then head back to Taiwan as Stewbacca tells us all about how airsoft is featured in Civil Defence Training there.
Rounding out we have our RED CELL update, this month on the first half of the 1911 models, with FIFTEEN models featured as Bill and Jimmy update this category. To finish up, Bill returns to one of his favourite AR platforms to see how the DELTA ARMORY Mk18 is getting on after some hard use and abuse!
So, reports, reviews, articles, and a big old dose of airsoft opinion from an experienced, award winning team that’s FREE to read… What’s not to love!

With another airsoft show season now behind us it looks as if 2024 is going to be quite the year, and in ISSUE 160 of AIRSOFT ACTION one of the many highlights is our report on IWA 2024 from Bill and Jase as they cover what they saw at this year’s German show in a very thorough yet entertaining fashion!
But that’s by no means it as we introduce the all-new R15 FREYA line from DELTA ARMORY, get down to business with three new Hi Capa variants from ICS, and check out the very latest REAPER AEG from EVOLUTION INTERNATIONAL!
Red Cell is all about our long-term test “Tacticool AKS”, Stewbacca continues down this path in Part 1 of his deep dive into the new AK accessories from LCT, and we round out this theme by looking at the “PMC” gear worn and used by the members of the AA LEGION in CAGE.
Bill has a look at some new boots and existing gear from the brand TEESAR, whilst we’re very happy to be joined by a new contributor, Rich P who takes a look at “Chasing FPS” in his AA debut! Stewbacca again brings this issue to a close as he looks back at continued performance of the WALTHER PPQ.
So, once again a good look at new platforms, updates on some “old campaigners”, a good bit of gear, and a major show report… what’s not to love? And as we always say, if it’s in airsoft, it’s in AIRSOFT ACTION, so we hope that you enjoy this use just as much as always!

The 2024 show season is well and truly underway, and as we prepare for IWA at the end of this month, in this bumper issue of AIRSOFT ACTION we’re very pleased to bring you a HUGE report from our team of Boycie, L’il Stu and new guy Steve as they track their Las Vegas adventure for this year, and report in on the things that caught their eye at SHOT SHOW 2024!

Boycie also leads off with our headline review of the all-new CZ P-10C GBB created under licence by ASG, followed up by both Bill and Stewbacca heading into “comp territory” as they look at the EMG F1 FIREARMS SBR AEG and CZ SHADOW 2 ORANGE respectively.

RED CELL really get under the skin of a couple of the long-term test MID LENGTH AR AEGs as they update on FIFTEEN models, and Stewbacca leads us inside BOLT AIRSOFT to see what makes them tick.
On the gear side we update the latest additions from VIPER TACTICAL and Bill looks back on a camo pattern that sang loud and then went a bit quiet… KRYPTEK. The team as whole this month carry on their usual banter as they discuss simple maintenance tips for both AEG and GBBs…

And of course we have our usual coverage of events and games both at home and abroad; Bill gets with the guys behind OP SCORPIO to find out the latest on this ambitious UK airsoft event, Miguel reports on a very special game in Portugal, and Stewbacca tells us all about a new airsoft/training venue in Taiwan!

Happy New year airsofters, and what a year 2024 promises to be!

Whilst we are all aware that there are "challenges" to airsoft groups and media on social media right now (yeah, thanks for THAT META!) it's very much business as usual at AIRSOFT ACTION as we launch into the next twelve months of monthly magazines (and of course our daily website
posts) full of news, reviews and tales of airsoft adventures all over the globe!

We kick off 2024 with an issue devoted to one of our favourite parts of the airsoft world, and that's GBBRs in all their glory! RED CELL have come together to update the GBB AR category with a further FIFTEEN models for you to enjoy, and that's before we start with reviews on the newer models.

And what airsoft delight we have for you there too as Dan gets under the hood of the new KWA F90, and Bill looks in detail at the MCX RATTLER and the NOVESKE N4 GEN III... but this time it's the N4 from EMG and CYMA featuring the new CYMA GAS SYSTEM (CGS)! Keeping with "things gas" we then bring in our verdict on the latest ACEHIVE "40mm" shell from ACETECH...

The members of the AA LEGION have some airsoft resolutions to share with you, and then we move on into our international coverage for this month as Tama rejoins us to talk about the BAKURESTU-SAI in Japan, Miguel reports on the latest ANA game "DYSTOPIA" in Portugal, and Stewbacca brings in our first practical shooting report on the Kaohsiung Level 3 International hosted by the Taiwan Practical Shooting Association (TPSA)!

All in all there's a little bit of "something airsoft" for each and every one of you, whatever your personal airsoft passion may be, and this is how we intend to keep things for 2024; focus on the disciplines for sure, focus on airsoft platforms and kit old and new of course, but first and foremost we'll keep on engaging with you, the international airsoft community, and we look forward to telling your tales and documenting YOUR airsoft adventures along with our own!

Yes, it’s THAT time of the year again where our proverbial Santa’s sack of airsoft toys for all you good girls and boys is positively stuffed with goodies for one and all!
Our sincere thanks go to the guys at www.ghost-hood.com for our annual “Christmas Cover” and we’re sure you’ll all agree that if that picture doesn’t put you in a seasonal mood, nothing will!
But what of the season? As another year draws towards a close the AA Crew have reflected on all the guns n’ gear that have seen them through 2023, so this month in both CAGE and RED CELL we’ve devoted space so that the guys can talk about their “most used” kit, and make their recommendations to you!
Bill also brings in his-now-annual tips on keeping your gear in tip-top condition, while Ben gives the lowdown on NIGHTFOX NVGs for those on a budget.
But that’s by no means all, as we have four absolutely, brand-spanking new platforms to present to you in the shape of the G&G MGCR 556 GBBR, the RAVEN HEX COMP and R9-4, and the much awaited ASG H15!
From the AA LEGION this month we look INSIDE ICS, and Tama tells all about this year’s MARUI FEST, and Stewbacca lands a HUGE report on all the airsoft goodness seen at MOA 2023!
Rounding things out in our Christmas-cracker of an issue Bill reflects on the VORSK VMP-1 at the six-month testing point in RELOADED, so again we’re certain that there will be something for everyone as always.

Another month flies by and here we are as always with a new monthly issue of AIRSOFT ACTION cram-packed with all the airsoft content we know you love!
Kicking off proceedings this month with our cover and headline review Dan gets his teeth firmly into the latest OPFOR goodness from ARCTURUS in the shape of the PP-19-01 PE Z-TAC SP1, quickly countered for BLUFOR by Miguel with his initial field notes on the all-new SPECNA ARMS
SA-FX01 FLEX, and we round out our main reviews this month by sticking with all things “9mm” as Bill heads to the range with the awesome CYMA CM106A PLATINUM!
RED CELL stay on the SMG-track as they land their mid-term update on FIFTEEN MP5 VARIANTS, whilst the AA LEGION delve into the glories of
AOR1 and 2 and what makes these patterns so special. There’s also a look at new eyepro from the EDGE tactical range that we’ve had in test for a while…
We then turn our attention to airsoft around the world with our international coverage as Stewbacca lands an interview with the mighty NONOCAT from New Zealand, and then reports on his recent experiences at a Level 1 Competition shoot in Tainan! Miguel brings home his now-annual look at ANA Portugal’s SALAMANDRA game, and we wrap up this month with our report on the awesome 2023 G&G CQB WORLD CUP shoot in Taipei!

We’ll bring you airsoft stories and news from all over the globe, and we hope you’ll enjoy our content this month just as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it!

It appears that we've been a little remiss in our coverage of, and commenting on, Designated Marksman platforms in our RED CELL testing, so this month we're devoting an entire issue to them!
Stewbacca kicks things off as he takes the OPFOR high ground and gets his teeth into the all-new and exciting SVDS from LCT airsoft!
Swift with a follow-up shot as always Bill then gets stuck into two well-priced rifles for BLUFOR in the shape of the Double Bell SCAR H and Golden Eagle HK417, and then RED CELL get their heads together to look at a mix of FIFTEEN different "big bore" rifles that they've been using and abusing for some considerable time.
We also take a look at OPTICS suitable for your DMR, and Bill rounds things out as he reflects on the VFC M110K1 GBBR after owning and shooting it for a year!
Of course mixed in we have our usual coverage of kit and gear as we look at boots from PROTEKTOR, and in THE CAGE we hone back in on A-TACS.
International coverage this month comes from our AA Legionnaires in Japan and Taiwan; our friend Tama rejoins us from Tokyo to tell us about airsoft at the V-SHOW, Anny reports on her recent training adventures, and along with Stewbacca brings in a big report on the bi-annual TAIWAN DEFENCE EXPO!

Even though we're currently having our annual vacation and office shutdown, here we go with the the very latest issue of AIRSOFT ACTION, and as usual it's a bit of a beast with 100 PAGES of free-to-read news, reviews, event reports from around the globe, and a healthy dose of attitude and airsoft opinion!

Kicking off with our headline review this month Bill gets some serious rangetime in with the KING ARMS TWS 9MM SBR, an AR GBBR that actually uses G-SERIES magazine many of you probably already have for your handguns... why are more people not talking about this breakthrough gas model... we have no idea, but we'll certainly say our piece!

Following on from there we have a first look at the all-new SGR 556 from G&G, the just-released ICS CXP APE SE,and the newest BATTLE ARMS DEVELOPMENT SBR AEG (courtesy of Larri in his first-ever AEG review!) from our old mates at REDWOLF! Then there's a further FIFTEEN SMG models that are moving on through the RED CELL testing program, along with a recap on the ROSSI NEPTUNE SAS six-months in!

In terms of kit Bill reflects back on the clothing and gear that he used on the FAST TACTICAL training course he attended recently, and the good folk of the AA LEGION "GO GREEN FTW!"

And then... THEN... we have our annual report from the AA crew that attended the NATIONAL AIRSOFT FESTIVAL in the UK, a BIG game report from Portugal thanks to Miguel, and our power-duo of Stewbacca and Anny firstly get "Inside LCT" for an update, and secondly bring in the lowdown on the DING DING CUP Steel Challenge in Taiwan, an event that AIRSOFT ACTION was honoured to support!

Welcome to another full-to-the-brim copy of AIRSOFT ACTION, and to kick things off this month we’ve gone a bit “polymer crazy” as we focus on THREE new models, all of which are polymer-bodied!
Headlining this time is our “take” on the final production version of the VORSK VMP-1, and Jimmy, Ben and Bill have all been hammering this new GBB to find out if the reality lives up to the promise (spoiler… it DOES!). Bill then gets properly involved with the G&G FAR 556 (yes, a FOLDING AR!) and the latest entry-level AEG from HUNTSMAN TACTICAL that’s sure to please many players on a budget!
Miguel lands his report on the VIPER VX GEN2 Plate Carrier after some heavy use and abuse, the LEGION get into their favourite Multicam kit as a new sequence of THE CAGE commences, and Stewbacca, ably assisted by Military Anny, continues to delve “Inside Airsoft”, meeting some of the people behind the "names" as they visit RA-TECH and Soloman Taiwan.
There’s FIFTEEN more AR SBR AEG models under the spotlight as RED CELL reach the halfway point of their extended testing program, and Bill gets techy (a rare thing indeed!) with an awesome thermal sight from HIKMICRO!
To round things out this month there are a couple of mammoth AA LEGION reports the first of which covers some very special CQB Training in the UK, along with Stewbacca's report on the now-annual POLK 3 MilSim game in Taiwan… if you like your airsoft hot and full-on then you need to check this out!

Dan gets techy as he looks at optimising the LAMBDA DEFENCE MK48 MOD 1, and we revisit “rattelcan camo” finishes as we (almost!) complete PROJECT ROSSI…

Bill continues out check out new models hitting the stores as he brings in his reviews of the latest hard-hitting AKSU from ARCTURUS and then gets all whimsical about the DOUBLE EAGLE take on the VORPAL BUNNY, and of course there’s the regular update from RED CELL on FIFTEEN more GBB pistol models!
There’s also gear aplenty with the members of THE AA LEGION getting stuck into chest rigs and the question of “tacticool shorts for airsoft”, whilst Stewbacca continues his look at kit from LayLax, and Miguel lands his findings on comms gear and target systems from SPECNA ARMS!

We've got another jam-packed issue for you again and we kick off in topical style with a VERY close look at the new "JW4" GBB, the TTI PIT VIPER made by Army Armament in cooperation with Jag Precision! And we don't take out foot off the gas for a moment though as the crew get to grips with the ARES 308 DMR, the all-new SPECNA ARMS X-SERIES PDW, and we introduce a new "partner" in the shape of ROSSI AIRSOFT!
Stewbacca has also been up to his usual tricks as he looks back on how his MODIFY PP2K GBB is still performing afetr some serious abuse, and gives us his valued opinion of the latest MK23 holster from LayLax. He also takes us more seriously behind the scenes to look at the reality of Taiwanese "civil defence training" and how airsoft and the manufacturers have played a real part in this, and once again gets together with "Military Anny" with a report on her real-steel training in the Phillipines!!
Lightening the mood we have a look at new clothing and gear from STOIRM, The LEGION look at upping their gear ante for multi-day missions, and there are reports from Portugal and Hong Kong about the latest games and sites where the guys live and play!

What a difference a month makes - especially when that month includes our annual trip to Germany for IWA 2023 - and in this issue of Airsoft Action the AA Crew report on their experiences of the new airsoft goodies shown (in some cases for the very first time) at the show!
Of course, that is far from the only bit of airsoft news that we’ve got in Issue 148, as Stewbacca has been out and giving the new MP5k GBB from VegaForecCompany (VFC) a proper hammering, Miguel has been in-game with the upgraded J-08 AEG from SPECNA ARMS and Bill has been putting in some serious rangetime with both the new VM9 GBB from VORSK and H17 GBB from HUNTSMAN TACTICAL!
On the kit side Stewbacca paid a visit to TRU SPEC ASIA, while the AA LEGIONNAIRES share their experiences in upgrading their usual skirmish gear to make provision for “Overnight Ops”, and US-lead Dan gets seriously deep and dark on the subject of Night Vision options with the guys from AMPED AIRSOFT.
Jimmy steps up again with a report on the latest goodies from MANCRAFT, Bill and Stewbacca talk about their LCT HK33s and 53s after long and hard use, and if you’ve ever wondered how we go about setting up for a major photoshoot, then Bill reveals all in a Red Cell Special Report that also looks into what we have in store for the future of the AA Long-Term-Test Program!
To round things out we start a new column looking at some of the “Names of Airsoft” as Stewbacca gets together with none-other than Military Anny Wu!

We continue our 2023 Show coverage with a truly gargantuan report on SHOT 2023 from Boycie, Li’l Stu and Dan as they chart their progress through one of the very biggest airsoft and shooting-related shows in the world… and what a LOT they have to tell!

As always at this time of year there are airsoft resolutions to get out of the way in THE CAGE, gear to prep for ’23 in TOD, and we delve into the latest tactical gear from VIPER that we’ve been hammering over the past few months. Bill gets to grips with updates to the NUPROL accessory line, and tech Jimmy concludes his journey with the new PERUN Mosfets as he gives his tips on fitting for the P90 and AUG.

Yes, it's the Christmas Issue of Airsoft Action and what a fun-filled, festively-fabulous filo-wrapped delicacy it is for you all to enjoy over the downtime that the season of good will brings to one and all!
In our last issue of 2022 we hope to bring you some additional joy! AEGs and GBBs? Yup, we've got PLENTY for you to get your teeth into as Bill brings home the bacon (joint!) after a lengthy and thorough test of the new M110K1 GBRR from VegaForceCompany, doubles down on two uprated ARs from SPECNA ARMS, checks out a budget "SR47" from Double Eagle, and continues his journey in to Wick-land with a tasty little morsel from Double Bell!
For his main course he serves up a RED CELL SPECIAL that covers the weapons of the Falklands War as we commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the conflict, with a platter of airsoft platforms from across the globe... just season to taste!

At Airsoft Action we always have a great selection of airsoft reviews and articles on the very latest guns n' gear for you to get your teeth into! But we don't rush things, and when we bring our reviews in to land they're based on thorough range testing and in-game-use; after all, what's the point of reviewing something that you've never used "in the wild"?
So what have we got for you in Issue 144? Red Cell turn their attention fully to the MP5 with their views on "what am bestest" gnu" when it comes to this venerable model, and to round out our platform coverage for Issue 144 Jimmy and Bill return to the ICS Mk18 two months in! Jimmy also gets stuck into the new PERUN mosfets in his tech-column to see what they offer for P90 and AUG users...
In terms of kit we delve into the background of KYDEX CUSTOMS, welcome our good friend and AA LEGION Associate Chris from AMNB with a brief on CONCAMO, and Bill and Will get stuck into some wholesome rations in TOD.

After our much needed summer break and office move, WE'RE BACK!
And we're back with a bang (or is that "pew"?) as we delve into even more exciting airsoft releases, leading off with Stewbacca's in-depth evaluation and review of VegaForceCompany's excellent new LAR GBBR, or the FN FAL if you'd prefer!
The we're straight onto a couple of the latest pistol models this month as Bjorn delivers the result of his range testing on the EVOLUTION INTERNATIONAL WARRIOR GBB, whilst Bill digs deep into the history and airsoft-performance of the CANIK TP9 COMBAT ELITE from CYBERGUN.
With the recent announcement from DIGITAL CONCEALMENT SYSTEMS on A-TACS FG Bill takes a look back at the development of this pattern, one that he's been involved with right from the outset, Jimmy details his "Ghillie on a Budget" build, and in our regular TOD column we delve into the mysteries of MilSim/Weekender-friendly sleeping bags. The Legion continue to look at "airsoft roles" as they pick apart what makes a great Team Leader, and Red Cell land  their longer-term-test findings on TWELVE SMG models!
And our international coverage gains even more pace this issue as we tasked Stewbacca to look into Civil Defence Training in Taiwan, getting the REAL story that's been running in the mainstream press from an airsofters perspective! Larri lands an awesome report on the recent SPEEDQB INVITATIONAL in Hong Kong, and Miguel reports back from OP SALAMANDRA in Portugal... this game looks amazing, and one that we're interested in attending next year as a group!

First up Stewbacca headlines with G&G’s new take on the Lee Enfield as he gets down to the nitty-gritty with the gas-driven LE4, and then Bill heads into his favourite “Cold War” territory with a look at the ARES L42A1, and he rounds things off with his thoughts on the thoroughly modern KYUDO from Saigo Defense!
Jimmy brings in "field notes" on his bolt-action HPA project, whilst Dan gets techy again with how to get the best from your springer, and then teams up with Stewbacca with a super retrospective on the beast that was, and is, the Real Sword SVD.
Red Cell take a look at TEN of their favourite long rifles in a truly MASSIVE report, with some old models and some new, and the AA Legion zeros-in on magnified optics they favour to go with them. This theme continues into THE CAGE where the crew start to look at a new topic, that of “airsoft roles” by looking at how a really good sniper can be a benefit to their team as a whole, and Stewbacca reports in on how the VFC PSG-1 is performing nearly one year on in RELOADED.
Larri lands another super report from Hong Kong about a unique site where WE would all certainly love to play, and the guys report back from this year’s National Airsoft Festival in the UK; with over 3000 PLAYERS it’s an event that we’re sure you’ll want to hear about!

The Legion looks at an often-overlooked kit area this time as they focus on slings, and we start to put all the theory of “Tactical Outdoor Development” into practice as the guys have been out in the woods building bashas and fast-set shelters! The BLOCK I M4 project takes another step forward, and whilst we’re talking about AR AEGs, RED CELL land their interim long-term test report on “SBRs”, TWELVE of them!
Jimmy gets all techy again with an overhaul of the AGM MG42 as promised, and Bill RELOADS his GE AMD-65 for the OPFOR amongst you! We wrap up this month as usual with Frenchie’s wry take on “things airsoft”, so all in all there’s once again a whole heap of 6mm goodness to check out.

Time for another issue of Airsoft Action and as this month is June, we decided an a "special issue" dedicated to the Normandy landings of June 1944!
Each year we remember those that fought to secure our freedom from tyranny in Europe (especially poignant right now...) so we felt it was time to concentrate on this era - and we most definitely have a WWII theme as we headline with the new Lee Enfield No4 and Kar98k from ARES whilst RED CELL get to grips specifically with WWII AEGs and GBBs that may well have been found on the landing beaches and in the bocage for both ALLIED and AXIS forces. The AA LEGIONNAIRES look at the question of getting involved in "period airsoft" in THE CAGE and Bill and Stewbacca delve into their personal handgun collections to take a hard look at WWII pistols.
Dan gets techy with a real "blast from the past" as he reinvigorates an old WWII-style Ultima MG42, Frenchie gets into "Dressing Up" in LAST POST and Bill rounds out our "NORMANDY '44" theme with his personal recommendations of what makes a good "D-Day Tour for Airsofters".
Of course though, it wouldn't be Airsoft Action without us highlighting the newest and best guns n' gear to hit the market and again it's a bumper issue chock-full of goodies! Wow! How fast a month can go by, and just how much can we cram into it if we really try!

So, we’re back on track with Issue 137, and what a month it has been for the AA crew!
We’re pleased to report that family members from Ukraine are now safe and once again we can only thank our Polish colleagues for all their assistance, support and friendship. Our prayers go out to all those still caught up in the horrific humanitarian crisis and our heartfelt support goes to all those Ukrainians still fighting so bravely for their freedom.
As much as we feel somewhat guilty about saying it in light of our comments above, it’s been a fabulous month for Airsoft Action as we retook the coveted BEST AIRSOFT MAGAZINE 2022 in the Players Choice Awards last weekend! This is a both a vindication of our FREE TO READ digital format but also a recognition of a the very hard, high-quality work done by all the AA LEGION members around the globe in the adverse conditions of the past couple of years!

It's always amazing just how fast another month ticks by, but, as it's the 15th it's time for ANOTHER issue of Airsoft Action!

The team has used their time this month getting to grips with the very latest AEG and GBB releases and we're very pleased to bring you what we believe to be the conclusion of our initial coverage of the awesome BCM MCMR from VFC. This time it's an EXCLUSIVE report, as Stewbacca managed to get together again with the Airsoft Surgeon himself to bring you the very first full look at the Clarence Lai Project Design take on the MCMR GBB!

With yet another first, Bill got his hands on some pre-production versions of the two new 3.8 Hi Capas from VORSK and takes a look at the PRO and the VENGEANCE before these hit the stores in the next couple of weeks. He also expresses his love for the latest "Noveske" from EMG, this time the excellent "SPACE INVADER PCC" AEG!
