CHANCE Meeting

There was something familiar about the her utmost not to stare across at him, as there is nothing more unnerving than having some stranger gawp at you.

'Now where do I know him from? Think, Eve! Perhaps he's one of Laura's or Susy's friends? No, surely I would be able to place him if he were?' The man looked up from his laptop and flashed her a generous smile. His kind eyes stirred something within her. She smiled back before returning to the crime novel she'd been eager to finish.

Suddenly, a teenager dashed past, dragging his giggling friend behind him..

'Afternoon, Liam.' 'Oh, er, hello, Mr Blunden.' The boy stopped in his tracks, running young man on Eve's train. She was trying nervous fingers through his shock of auburn hair.

'I trust you haven't Tr sor hear forgotten about your presentation tomorrow,' the man said, with a wry smile.

'Erm, no, Sir.' The boy's companion giggled again.

'Glad to hear it. See you at school tomorrow. Oh and try not to be late again.' The boy nodded sheepishly, before resuming his sprint. The sound of laughter reverberated through the carriage until it was silenced by the sliding door.
