THE GOLD COAST'S FAB FOUR TELL ALL - AUSSIE ROCK'N'ROLL ROYALTY

There were endless laughs and outrageous stories showbiz swapped when Gold Coast-based music royalty Normie Rowe, Brian Cadd, Brian Mannix and Tony Worsley got together for a catch-up.

"Rounding us up is quite a feat as, thankfully, we're all still busy performing. But it's great to have a drink and remember old times. These guys are like family," Normie tells Woman's Day.

"Between the four of us, we've been making music for over 220 years! We put the Rolling Stones to shame," laughs Tony, 80, who's been singing since he was 14, topping the charts in the '60s with his signature song Velvet Waters.

Normie, 76, whose mega-hits include Que Sera Sera, earned his first dollar performing when he was 12. Larrikin Uncanny X-Men rocker Brian, 62, kicked off his showbiz career after winning a beauty contest when he was nine!

"I won Victoria's Mr Ocean Grove in 1971. First prize was $5, which I spent on a rubber monster mask,” jokes Brian.

LIFELONG FRIENDS

"The '60s and '70s were crazy. I remember posing for one of my album covers, topless, and to get the right beefcake look, olive oil was rubbed all over me," recalls Tony, who worked as a Gold Coast surf lifesaver between gigs.
