Just a few hours south of Auckland lies a nature lover's paradise

New Zealand's MAGNIFICENT NORTH

There's something special about travelling overseas. But you don't need to spend thousands of dollars and mind-numbing hours in the air to experience another country.

Our Kiwi neighbours inhabit one of the most spectacular countries on earth. A flight to Auckland and a leisurely drive will see you in the magnificent Central North Island - the perfect region for a driving holiday.

DAY 1

Our first stop is the funky little beachside town of Raglan. Famous for its stunning beach, quirky boutiques and cafes, it's a perfect lunch spot.

Less than an hour away is the spectacular Hamilton Gardens. We were blown away by the themed garden designs. It's like taking a trip around the world, and oh-so hard to pick a favourite. But the Surrealist Garden was a delight. Make sure you look up, and prepare to be surprised!

Dinner was at Swedish-inspired tapas restaurant Gothenburg - a hidden gem on the banks of the beautiful Waikato.

DAY 2

Next day we headed to the world-famous Waitomo and Ruakuri Caves to get up close and personal with thousands of glow-worms. You can experience this starry wonderland on foot and by boat. Here, we learned that the tiny "worms" are the larvae of fungus gnats that use bioluminescence to attract insects for food. They also have fascinating sex lives!
