Struggling with caring for elderly parents?

One minute you're parenting your children, the next (if you're lucky enough), you're parenting your parents. I say 'lucky enough', because for those of us who lost a parent when we were younger, we will forever feel that loss. We can ponder on the fortune of living to a ripe old age, but the challenge to our emotional, mental and physical well-being of looking after elderly parents (and relatives) is not an unfamiliar conversation in my consultation room. After years of witnessing this harsh reality of the cycle of life, is there any helpful advice I can offer?
