When the sun's shining, there's no better place than Woolacombe for family fun
ZOE WEST
Heaven in DEVON

Rolling dunes, an unrivalled coastline and great surf – there’s a reason this show-stopping spot on the north coast of Devon has become the go-to seaside resort. Located at the mouth of a valley in the parish of Mortehoe, Woolacombe is the stuff of Enid Blyton seaside adventures, with golden sands, charming beach huts and lashings of ginger beer – or in this neck of the woods, cider slushies, which you can buy in the local shop!

Beaches beckon

According to TripAdvisor, Woolacombe is one of the best beaches in the world, ahead of famous spots in Australia and Greece. With just over two miles of golden soft sand, it’s perfect for kids to grab a bucket and spade and build sandcastles to their heart’s content. Then there are the oh-so-pretty sand dunes that are fun to run or paddleboard down. It’s no wonder Woolacombe forms part of the North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for its bewitching landscape.
