ANNE, PRINCESS ROYAL

She was named the most hardworking royal after undertaking 214 engagements last year, but one cause especially close to Princess Anne’s heart is the Carers Trust. The Princess Royal Trust for Carers was founded in 1991 on the initiative of the late Queen’s only daughter.

‘Without carers, health and social care would collapse under the weight of demand that couldn't be met,’ the 73-year-old said. ‘Devotion to caring for family members who are unable to look after themselves… is remarkable, especially when you consider the implications for the carer’s finances, physical health and mental wellbeing.

‘This is why I have remained so committed to using my role as the president of the Carers Trust to continue to raise public awareness.’

CATHERINE, PRINCESS OF WALES

Since marrying the Prince of Wales in 2011, Kate has spent much of her time supporting charity work around families and young children, and is the Royal Patron of Family Action.
