I caught Covid. I realise I'm late to the party and this sounds like old news to most of you, but it was nice to finally participate in the global pandemic.
For years, I had felt like a spectator, watching the action from the sidelines. In the beginning, I had lots of company: most of New Zealand. Sitting in our deckchairs on the embankment, dipping into our chilly bins, watching the rest of the world fight it out on the field, congratulating ourselves on the good management/Government/ luck/geography that kept us virus-free.
Unfortunately, we had been named the team of five million and every team wants to play; get involved. So it was that hundreds, then thousands, then hundreds of thousands of us ran onto the pitch and got heavily entangled with SARS-CoV-2.
