As a result of a close and uninvited encounter with a white-tailed spider, one of my grandkids had to be taken for a visit to A&E for a little medical attention. The bite was a bit sore apparently, but that's not what really bothered him. What really upset him, his mother told me, was that he didn't turn into Spider-Man.
Speaking for the family, we're all quite glad that Tiaho, six, didn't turn into Spider-Man. Him just pretending to be SpiderMan is challenging enough without going full arachnid on us. Anyway, having spiderwebs all over the place would annoy his sisters and his mum and dad, who keep a very tidy house. But, of course, Tiaho won't want to be Spider-Man forever. Well, that is our fervent hope.
