"I Made A Decision To Try Everything"

Sally Lindsay never likes to get too settled. When she finds herself feeling a bit too secure in any job, the star of Coronation Street, Mount Pleasant, Cold Call, and The Madame Blanc Mysteries likes to push herself out of her comfort zone.

It's why, after only five years, Sally left the role that made her name - as Shelley Unwin in Coronation Street (2001-06) - and why we saw her replace Richard Osman on Pointless in September for a two-week stint.

"After five years on Coronation Street, I just got that feeling it was time to move on," muses Sally. "I just don't like to get comfortable.

"With Pointless, I had made a decision to try everything, especially after the pandemic. I didn't want to turn anything down. I was less bothered about the industry thinking that if I did Pointless, they wouldn't think I'm a serious actor. I thought, 'Sod that, of course I am! I've been acting for years. People know that'. I guess it's about becoming more liberated with age."

She laughs that 95% of the comments about her stint on Pointless were "absolutely lovely," but a few were hilariously off-beam. "There were five percent who thought I'd killed Richard Osman and buried him under a patio!"

She laughs. "I was like, 'It's actually his show [Osman created it] and he really wants me to do this'."
