THE WHY,THE WHICH & the wardrobe

What sets your heart aflutter? For Kamo, it's neutral but textured pieces with a sculptural edge; for Desiree, magnificent prints and shoulder pads; and for Raya, romantic sack dresses and gem-encrusted jewellery.

THE WHY,THE WHICH & the wardrobe

You have a clear preference for black and white – or is it neutrals in general?

All of the above! A neutral colour palette appeals to me because it just looks really elegant. It’s also very transitional, so you can wear the same pieces no matter the season.

What is the key to wearing a head-to-toe monochromatic look?

A lot of people will ask me, ‘How do I wear white?’ It can be nerve-wracking to wear head-to-toe white, but I always look for items that fit me really well. The fit has to be good, especially with a monochromatic look, to give you that sleek silhouette. In summer, I love to add a pop of colour, either through my makeup or accessories. And in winter I love playing with texture by wearing a very fluffy mohair jumper with, say, a very sleek pair of pants. Playing with different textures within the same colour palette makes it a lot more interesting, and it elevates your look.

You also have a fondness for beautiful handbags – which are your favourites?

Bottega Veneta, definitely; I just always fall in love with this brand’s bags. And Louis Vuitton has incredible bags that can be passed down through generations. I love seeing the craftsmanship that goes into each bag, and seeing how all the bags are developed and remodelled in different ways every season. On the more affordable side, I think Staud and Aeyde have incredible bags – very minimalistic.
