WHERE TO EAT

YIAMAS GREEK TAVERNA, GLASGOW

The realisation of a lifelong dream for Cretan-born Yiannis Bantouvakis, this buzzing Bath Street restaurant is now under the care of his widow and daughter. Well known for its gyros, it also serves up two moussakas: a classic beef version with aubergine and potato plus a vegan one with mixed vegetables and a plant-based bechamel.

JARS MEZE, BATH

From the outside, the Georgian shopfront on a narrow alleyway may give the impression of this being a quintessential Bath establishment. But inside, the Jars family have recreated the tavernas of their native Corfu - although, in truth, the dishes on the menu range from Cretan to Macedonian. Mama Jars' version of moussaka features a mix of beef and pork, plus potatoes, aubergines, bechamel and a startling amount of cheese.jarsmeze.com
