REQUIRES macOS 11 or later, 8GB of memory (16GB recommended), Slapdash (slapdash.com)

YOU WILL LEARN How to use Slapdash to control cloud apps

IT WILL TAKE 15 minutes

GENIUS TIP

Slapdash's actions can often be given a shortcut. Find the app in Slapdash's Connected section, click the cog, then assign a shortcut.

SPOTLIGHT IS ONE of the key tools of macOS, and you probably use it so much you don't even think about it. But while we love it, it has some limitations. For one thing, you can't use it to send commands directly to apps such as Notion or Zoom - instead, you have to open those apps individually. And that's where Slapdash comes in.

Slapdash adds a Command Bar that works a bit like Spotlight. Once you open it with Cmd+J, you can interact with your cloud-connected apps in ways Spotlight can only dream of. You can create new Google Sheets, search Asana tasks, or send new Gmail messages, all without opening those apps. Just enter your query and press Return to carry it out, or press Tab to drill down into that command with more options. It's a great timesaver.

COMMUNITY COMMANDS

Slapdash also has a library of developer-made commands that can enrich your experience. In the app, click Commands > Platform, then click Explore Commands under Community Commands. There's also a Google Chrome extension that lets you search through open tabs and view your web browsing history.
