HoloSuite streamlines and simplifies the editing, compression and streaming of volumetric video clips, also known as holograms, and the toolset has been expanding since its initial release. We had the chance to test and review the latest edition, featuring a handful of general updates and a major new feature.
For volumetric video users, it’s the only real solution. Thankfully, it’s also a good one. At The Mercantile, we started working with HoloSuite about a year ago. We’re currently using it on our first AR-based volumetric narrative, The Tent, a story about a woman startled to discover a tent has appeared in her garden. We’ve run HoloSuite through its paces, including the new features, and it allows us to build the mixed-reality experiences we dreamed of when we started producing VR nearly a decade ago.
Arcturus’s HoloSuite is basically the Swiss Army knife of volumetric video tools. It is agnostic and can accept most volumetric clips regardless of their creation or origin, and it can stream the edited files to multiple endpoints, including AR and VR headsets, mobile devices and game engines like Unity and Unreal Engine.
Plus, last year Epic Games invested in Arcturus during series A funding, so you can expect even more functionality there soon, especially for virtual production. HoloSuite has proven it can help make what’s traditionally been a heavy lift into something much more manageable.
