PLAYER PROFILE ALEX SCOTT BRISTOL CITY MIDFIELDER

- Chris Dunlavy

TEEN STAR IS ON PATH TO THE TOP

WHEN Amad Diallo was beaten to the Championship Young Player of the Season award by Alex Scott last Sunday, the Sunderland winger tweeted ‘Who?’.

Diallo may not have heard of Bristol City’s teenage sensation, but the rest of the football world certainly has.

Liverpool have monitored the midfielder for the best part of two seasons. Tottenham are keen. West Ham and Wolves have both asked to be kept informed.

Should any of the Premier League quartet make a formal approach this summer, they will be asked for £25m as a minimum.

“Alex has managed to continue his development with a pretty steady upward curve over the two years he has played here now,” said Robins boss Nigel Pearson. “I think that speaks volumes about his ability and his potential too. He’ll play for a top side, absolutely no doubt in my mind about that. He will go onto really big things.”

Scott’s vast potential has been evident since he emerged as a 16-year-old in his native Guernsey.

The Channel Island runs a team that plays in the Isthmian League and Scott became the club’s youngest-ever player when he made his debut against Phoenix Sports in 2019.
