Barnsley went in front through Paik Seung-Ho's owngoal in the 58th minute, with Stansfield picking out the top corner to equalise within two minutes.
Blues' top goalscorer then headed Paik's corner past Ben Killip after Adam Phillips saw red for the Tykes with 11 minutes to go.
"Talk about personality and stepping up in the big moments," said Davies on Stansfield.
"On a technical level, to shoot with that power and accuracy from that far away from goal is excellent, but it was the moment. It was a critical moment.
