Robins flying high with a first win

MARK Robins feels this win will allow Stoke to "take the handbrake off" after he claimed a first Championship triumph as their new manager.

The visitors recovered from Eliot Matazo's sixth-minute opener for the home side with goals from debutant Ali Al-Hamadi and substitute Andy Moran.

Robins, whose side had won just two away games this season, said: "If you put that sort of effort in, the quality will come through.

"We have young players trying to find their through, way but they've got the skill and ability. I see it every day in training.

"At the moment, we are in a situation where we've not won enough games so it's a bit of a confidence thing." Stoke's away form makes for grim reading, and Robins must have feared the worst following such a careless start. Lynden Gooch was outmuscled by Sean McLoughlin at the back post from Hull's well-worked short corner.
