Set up by an avid mountain biker who was spurred into action by all the litter he saw, Trash Free Trails are on a mission to (re)connect people with nature through the simple yet meaningful act of removing single-use pollution (ie. discarded plastic) from wild places. At the heart of the not-for-profit group's work are their A-TEAM-a crew of volunteer ambassadors who've been inspired to spread the outfit's values, ethos and approach among their own riding communities. Here, we meet some of these riders to find out more...
WHO ARE TRASH TRAILS?
They're a community of runners, riders and roamers who are aiming for a 75 per cent reduction in single-use pollution on trails and in wild places by 2030. At the core of their work is the belief that widespread disconnection from nature is one of the key drivers of environmentally-damaging behaviour. They hope that by creating a linked-up and healthy population of 'environmental stewards' they can pave the way for major change.
