Phil Mickelson was right about one thing: The PGA Tour has been sitting on a 'stockpile' of cash for some time and now it intends to use it to convince its top stars to stay and compete together on a more regular basis. Just eight days after a players-only meeting gave him the mandate for change, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan unveiled a raft of changes to the Tour's ecosystem, which include the birth of a new super series, a $50m boost to player bonuses, and a $500,000 salary for golfers who compete in at least 15 tournaments.
