This time of year can be tough - we're in the depths of winter, the days are short and the festivities are at an end. This year is set to be more challenging than most with the cost of living biting, prices rising and luxuries even essentials - becoming unaffordable for some of us.
As with so many problems both personal and societal, cycling has a lot to offer. I've pedalled my way out of some pretty bad fugs; problems that seemed insurmountable, a low mood that slowly lifted on the bike. It's not just the exercise, it's the friendly hellos, the singing of a bird, the way the light touches the landscape, or an arresting sky. It's a chance for a change of scenery. Cycling has also saved me huge amounts of money over the years, by being my main form of transport.
Many of us struggle to get out on the bike in the colder months, though a ride can often be just what we need to clear our heads, see some daylight and set those endorphins pumping.
