FROM GILL BREAKING KOHLI'S RECORD TO AN UNWANTED FEAT BY ARSHDEEP SINGH HEROES AND ZEROES OF LAST WEEK

India completed a thumping 90-run over New Zealand in the 3rd ODI Indore to clinch the three-match series 3-0. The Men in Blue lost the 1st T20I in Ranchi but hit back in Lucknow to square the series and take it to the decider. Meanwhile, South Africa strengthened their chances of qualifying automatically for the 2023 World Cup by winning the first two matches against England at home in Bloemfontein. In the Women’s T20I tri-series in South Africa, India and South Africa thumped West Indies by 56 runs and 10 wickets, respectively, to book their place in the final. Here’s a recap of records in international cricket in the last week.

SHUBMAN GILL BREAKS VIRAT KOHLI’S RECORD, EQUALS BABAR AZAM

Shubman Gill scored 112 runs in the third ODI against New Zealand in Indore, taking his series tally to 360. This is the most by an Indian in a three-match bilateral one-day series. The previous record was held by Virat Kohli, who scored 283 runs in the three-match series against Sri Lanka earlier in the year. Gill also leveled Babar Azam's record of 360 runs in a three-match bilateral ODI series with his feat. With his ton in Indore, Gill became the fastest Indian male cricketer to four ODI tons. He needed only 21 innings to get there, breaking Shikhar Dhawan’s record (24 innings). Gill’s 212-run stand with Rohit Sharma is a new record for the highest opening partnership against New Zealand. The previous record was jointly held by Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Sanath Jayasuriya, and Upul Tharanga (201 runs).
