This newly discovered species is one of nearly 1,300 known types of tardigrades. It was found in the moss of dead tree barks in the Black Forest of Germany. The creature, too small to be distinguished by the naked eye, is part of billions of life forms on the forest floor that are essential to the health of the planet.
