APS-C CAMERA
While full-frame cameras do offer significant benefits in terms of high-ISO performance, an APS-C or Micro 4/3 mirrorless camera will offer the absolute best portability, and you may even be able to carry a backup body without it weighing you down.
PRO-GRADE LENS
For adventure photography, an optic with some level of weather sealing is definitely a benefit. This is often missing on budget lenses, so consider upgrading or, better still, hiring a Nikon S-line, Canon L-Series or Sony G-Master branded optic for the duration of your trip.
