UPSC dream crushed, a family loses loving daughter

New Delhi: Neelima, 16, was cycling to her school, Government Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Karala, when she was hit by a pick-up van at 6.45am, 15 minutes after leaving home. Her friend, 15year-old Baby, who was cycling with her, informed the family about her death.

On Tuesday, 24 hours after the accident, TOI still found blood trails at the spot on the road where the accident took place close to the teenager's school. There were no speed-breakers on the busy carriageways there though 100 metres away, a board alerted the vehicles of it being an "accident-prone zone".
