This came close on heels of state transport commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar announcing on Wednesday that action was taken against errant operators of 841 tourist buses across Maharashtra.
The latest drive, between October 9-11, was carried out following a mishap involving a bus and truck in Nashik last Saturday, in which 12 persons died. The bus was later found to be overloaded, with some sleeping or sitting in the aisle, sources said. Bhimanwar told TOI the drive will also focus on overcharging of passengers during Diwali, and will continue till the month-end.
