Awhad gets anticipatory bail in molestation case filed by activist

Awhad, through his counsel, had moved the anticipatory bail application in the court of judge P M Gupta, who scheduled the hearing on Tuesday morning.

During the hearing, ACP Sonali Dhole told the court that the case was sensitive in nature and Awhad was a powerful politician and could influence the probe. Dhole further said Awhad was arrested by Vartak Nagar police last week in another case and he had flouted the terms of bail granted to him in that incident. She was referring to the arrest of Awhad and 11 NCP workers last Thursday for allegedly assaulting a businessman in a Thane multiplex and stalling a show of Marathi film ‘Har Har Mahadev’. They were later released on bail by the magistrate court.
