Tells Single Judge To Decide On Plea

SIT can probe Poachgate sans HC supervision: SC

Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Monday gave the Poachgate special investigation team (SIT) set up by the state government a free hand to probe the case without any judicial supervision as earlier ordered by the Telangana high court. The apex court also rejected the interim bail plea of one of the accused and ordered him to approach the high court for regular bail.

With the Supreme Court bench doing away with the need for the single judge to monitor the Poachgate probe, the SIT now need not furnish its first report to the judge on November 29 as directed by the division bench of the high court earlier.

A bench of Justices B R Gavai and Vikram Nath, while refusing to stay the ongoing SIT probe, also directed the single judge to decide within four weeks the pleas from BJP and the three accused seeking CBI investigation into the cash-for-defection scandal.
