In the Serilingampally zone alone, there are 22 non-notified slums and 10 notified ones in the Chandanagar area which account for more than half of the assembly constituency.
However, official data in the area shows that there are 32 more unrecognized slums in the same zone, which means they neither fall under the category of being notified nor non-notified. In the Kukatpally area, there are 36 non-notified ones.
According to official sources, there are proposals to notify most of them, however, the feasibility of providing basic amenities and potential flood hazards is hampering the efforts. Across the city, there are 1,476 slums out of which 297 of them are non-notified.
