At least four cases of online swindles were reported from Hyderabad and Cyberabad over the last fortnight. While remote control software, Teamviewer, was used as a tool, police, and bankers also warn of fast remote desk apps-AnyDesk and QuickSupport.

A Miyapur resident, who sought a flight ticket refund received a call after he posted his grievance on Facebook. Fraudsters claiming to be customer-care executives of the travel portal promised a quick refund and asked him to share his mobile screen on Teamviewer. He was duped of 3.3 lakh.

On May 6, Cyberabad cyber crime police registered a case of cheating, fraudulent use of electronic password signature, and cheating by personation with computer device on a complaint by the Miyapur resident, Vipin Kumar. He said, "I booked tickets on Vistara Airlines for a Singapore-Delhi flight through Goibibo portal for three family members. Since flights were cancelled due to the Covid-19 lockdown, I have been chasing Vistara Airlines and Goibibo for a refund.
