The 76-year-old Ready, Steady, Cook star told how he was hospitalised after having a stroke and thanked the "fantastic" medical staff who looked after him last summer.
He revealed his health woes on James Martin's Saturday Morning telly show.
James, who describes Brian as his "TV dad", introduced him for a segment which saw them cook a delicious lamb meal together.
Brian said: "Unfortunately I had a stroke in June and the people at the London hospital were fantastic and helpful.
"Excuse me if I make a stammer occasionally, but we'll catch up at the end."
