THE Tory Mayor of the West Midlands has rebuked a fellow Conservative for calling Birmingham a &ldquo;dump&rdquo; after going there for the party conference.
Daniel Grainger, chairman of Young Conservative Network, was told by mayor Andy Street to leave and &ldquo;take anyone with the same views with you&rdquo;.
Mr Grainger later apologised and deleted his post, which had said simply: &ldquo;Birmingham is a dump&rdquo;.
He claimed his tweet was &ldquo;not about the city&rdquo; and that he had been the victim of a mugging attempt the day before.
Birmingham is hosting the Conservatives&rsquo; annual conference this week.
Mr Street wrote: &ldquo;Off you pop then. Try and take some time to grow up whilst you&rsquo;re gone.&rdquo;
He added: &ldquo;I may be a Conservative, but I&rsquo;m also a bloody proud Brummie.
&ldquo;I won&rsquo;t have anyone trying to put us down.&rdquo;
