Beckenham MP Bob Stewart was convicted of a racially aggravated public order offence on Friday.
He told campaigner Sayed Ahmed Alwadaei to "go back to Bahrain" during a confrontation last year.
Yesterday, Mr Stewart, 74, told Chief Whip Simon Hart he would surrender the Tory whip while he appeals the decision.

Westminster Magistrates Court heard Mr Alwadaei shouted, "Bob Stewart, for how much did you sell yourself to the Bahraini regime" as the MP arrived at Lancaster House, central London, on December 14.
Mr Stewart told him to "go back to Bahrain" and said "you're taking money off my country, go away".
Chief magistrate Paul Goldspring fined Mr Stewart &pound;600. The MP said he was "deeply hurt" to find himself on trial.
Mr Alwadaei said: "I feel that I was dehumanised, like I was not welcome."
