FRONTLINE doctors have urged a rethink on proposals to hand a £480million NHS IT contract to a controversial data-mining firm.

In the first major intervention by clinicians, the Doctors' Association UK warned ministers that handing the deal to US firm Palantir would erode public trust in the system.

The company, co-founded by Donald Trump donor Peter Thiel, is in "pole position" to bag the contract to create a central database for all NHS patient information.
