A PETITION calling for Lucy Letby's convictions to be quashed has amassed more than 1,600 signatures.
The appeal, posted on website change.org, comes eight months after the former neonatal nurse got a whole-life sentence for murdering seven newborns and trying to kill six more.
Ceri Morrice, who launched the petition, claims: "The evidence given in the trial was insufficient. A retrial should be ordered showing the original&nbsp;data, plus all the other deaths and collapses with full nursing and doctor rosters."
Signatories declare Letby is innocent and was a scapegoat. The Government typically responds to petitions after 10,000 signatures.
A source close to victims' families last night branded the campaign deeply insulting.
They added: "A jury tirelessly deliberated for weeks and the&nbsp;guilty verdict was based on watertight evidence." A 10-month trial at Manchester Crown Court was shown notes Letby, 34, had scrawled, including one saying: "I am evil I did this."
Letby, who worked at the Countess of Chester Hospital, faces a retrial over the attempted murder of a seventh baby.
A judge last year warned Letby supporter Prof Richard Gill about contempt of court after he claimed that those who believe the verdicts have "low IQs".
Hosting website change.org was contacted for comment.
