Ladakhileaders suggested the possibility of restarting discussions after the winter session of Parliament, noting that the statehood demand might not take a central role in upcoming talks.

Union Government discussions unlikely to include Ladakh's statehood request

The Union Government engaged in discussions on Tuesday with Ladakhi leadership concerning the statehood demand, job security, land issues, and identity.

Nonetheless, certain Ladakhi leaders indicated the likelihood of resuming talk's post the winter session of parliament, with the caveat that the statehood demand might not feature prominently in future discussions.

"It seemed from the recent talks that the Union Government may not concede to statehood demand for the Union Territory of Ladakh" said one of the leaders from Kargil Democratic Alliance to this reporter.
