BJP will ‘remove infiltrators, end syndicate raj’ in Bengal: Amit Shahin Tehatta
The Statesman Bhubaneswar
|April 27, 2026
Delivering an aggressive, election-season pitch in Nadia’s Tehatta, an Assembly constituency bordering Bangladesh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday asserted that the BJP would “remove infiltrators from Bengal’s soil’ and dismantle the alleged syndicate network if voted to power.
He also claimed that the ruling Trinamul Congress had already been “wiped out” in the first phase of polling.
Addressing a rain-hit rally on Sunday, Mr Shah framed the contest as a battle over security, governance and identity. “After forming the government, we will not just remove names from voter lists but remove infiltrators from the land of Bengal,” he said, drawing loud responses from the crowd as he sought endorsement for a tougher stance on illegal immigration.
