Man, 40, - who was homeless - claimed it was for 'protection'
DAD-OF-FIVE Michael Hancock has been jailed after he was caught with a 'large knife' and truncheon by police.
The 40-year-old had the blade in his waistband when police arrested him in Tunstall and also recovered the other weapon.
Now Hancock, who has a previous conviction for possession of a 'bladed article' and affray in 2022, has been jailed for seven months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
Prosecutor Tomas Quinn said a 999 call was made by a member of the public to say they had seen a man with a machete in Roundwell Street, Tunstall, on August 1 last year.
