EVEN as India refocuses on tiger conservation after the demise of 30 big cats in the first two months of 2023, another big challenge for the administrators is timber smuggling.
It measures approximately 20 km road and is motorable only for 4x4 TC trucks. Some 1-2 km of it falls inside the park while the remaining stretch is in its buffer zone. The road was detected during an operation conducted by a joint team of the district administration and the forest department, led by district magistrate Sunny K Singh. The team also came across large-scale timber smuggling.
