Iran will release 16 Indian sailors as goodwill gesture

NEARLY a fortnight after Iran's Revolutionary Guards seized an Israeli ship, which had 17 Indian sailors on board (the lone Indian woman sailor returned to Kochi), there is hope of the remaining 16 Indian sailors to be released and sent back. The ship was seized on April 13.

Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahain in a phone call that he made to his Portugese counterpart said that they were considering the release of the sailors on humanitarian grounds.
