DA case: CBI seizes 17 kg gold, ₹1.6 crore cash from ex-IRTS officer in Odisha

IN one of the biggest exposes of disproportionate assets of a Central government employee in Odisha, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday unearthed 17 kg gold besides ₹1.57 crore cash from retired Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer Pramod Kumar Jena.

Jena, who had earlier been booked for accumulation of disproportionate assets, was also found to possess bank balance, postal savings and fixed deposits of ₹4.84 crore. His bank and postal deposits stood at ₹3.33 crore, while the bank balance traced was ₹1.51 crore.

Jena had also invested ₹47.75 lakh in mutual funds. Gold bars, gold biscuits, coins and jewellery, valued at ₹9.5 crore, were also seized from him.
