CPM promises to install 'secular' govt at Centre, scrap 'draconian' laws

PLEDGING to assist in the establishment of a secular government at the Centre, the CPM, in its manifesto released on Thursday, promised to scrap controversial laws such as the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), along with all 'draconian' laws including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The party also pledged to tax the 'super-rich', double the allocation for MGNREGA, implement reservations in private sector jobs, advocate for state funding of elections, and promptly restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

In the manifesto, the CPM also vowed to advocate for an unwavering adherence to the principle of separating religion from politics, the State, government and administration. "It will advocate for legislation against hate speech and crimes.
