The anti-corruption drive comes ahead of the BMC election that is scheduled to be held in mid-2023. Among the suspended employees, 53 were charged in bribery cases while 81 faced fraud cases under the Indian Penal code. BMC chief Iqbal Singh Chahal said that the organisation wanted to set an example and send out a message, and that's why they took strict action against the employees who indulged in corruption and fraud cases.
