Prachanda comfortably won the vote of confidence in Parliament on Tuesday, with the surprise support of his former ally and now opposition Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba. That itself told a tale of the shifting political sands in Nepal.
Prachanda needed just 138 votes but got 268 in the 275-member Parliament. In all, 270 lawmakers were present in Parliament when the trust vote happened.
