A sudden thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds swept the entire Delhi-NCR region in the intervening night of May 10-11 during which three people lost their lives while 23 others suffered injuries. “Three died and six injured after trees fell on them while 17 were left injured when a portion of their houses collapsed in the stormy weather,” the officer said.
The three storm-related deaths were reported from the Vikaspuri area of west Delhi, Shaheen Bagh area of south east Delhi and KNK Marg in Sector 16, Rohini.
Sharing details of the Vikaspuri incident, DCP (West) Vichitra Veer said a call was received at 11.20 pm on Friday regarding a tree falling on a person near Janakpuri flyover. The police immediately responded to the call and reached the scene of the accident where a tree had fallen over a car and a moped.
