Panic, confusion grip public as RBI recalls ₹2000 notes

Shopkeepers are the first to see the impact of this announcement as there is a sudden rush among the customers to buy items with ₹2,000 notes.

“Earlier only 10-15 customers were coming in a week with ₹2000 note, but on Saturday around 30-40 customers came with these notes. I refused to accept those notes politely as I am confused about this sudden rush among customers. I want some more clarity about ₹2000 note withdrawal,” a shopkeeper in Borivali, Mumbai told this newspaper. “My fear is that some people may come with counterfeit currency,” he added.
