CPI zeroes in on 15 seats in 8 states

THE CPI has identified at least 15 constituencies in eight states, including Bihar, Assam, Manipur and Jharkhand, where it wants to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections under the pact of Indian National Developmental Inclusive Left formula Alliance (INDIA).

CPI general secretary D Raja said that the party might soon announce its nomination for the identified seats subject to its negotiation with INDIA bloc allies, mainly the Congress.

The Left party has identified one seat each in Manipur, Telangana, Maharashtra, Punjab, Assam and Jharkhand under the electoral alliance with the Congress. The CPI has already announced its candidate for one of the two seats in Manipur. It has fielded AITUC state unit general secretary Laishram Sotinkumar Singh in the Inner Manipur seat.
