The second summer of Chennai is here and the Indian captain is sweating it out in the middle — centre-wicket practice — ahead of the opening Test against Bangladesh.
Right behind the nets, something more interesting was happening among Gautam Gambir, the India head coach, Virat Kohli, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. Kohli, seemingly in the centre of it all, was making Gambhir, who is often perceived as not one to smile, laugh in a way not many have seen in the public sphere.
For all the drama and onfield altercations the former teammates from Delhi have had in the past, if someone saw them for the first time, they might assume the two as best of friends. However, they are just two mature, professional individuals, doing their respective jobs while having a laugh in the process. And it painted a clearer picture of the presumptions made about Gambhir when he was named the new head coach, especially taking over from someone like Rahul Dravid.
