St Luke's Hospice, Plymouth, has joined forces with Help for Heroes to tackle an area previously under-resourced.
The project will encourage and train fellow veterans to volunteer for the End of Life Military Compassion project, which aims to ensure that the community is a more supportive place for both current military personnel and veterans whose time is running short, and their families alike.
The idea evolved from works between St Luke's, Plymouth City Council, and other local organisations which resulted in Plymouth being designated as the UK's first compassionate city back in 2019.
The project is being led by Help for Heroes' Veterans Clinical Advisor, Janine Whitley, who will be teaching volunteers how to work with veterans.
